Joining the Lithium-Ion Battery Supply Chain

April 10, 2023

In November 2022, the DoE’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory issued a report titled “North American Lithium Battery Materials Industry Report”.  CHASM was included in the update to the report issued in January 2023:

“CHASM Advanced Materials, Inc. is headquartered in Canton, Massachusetts, with their Applications Development Center.  CHASM manufactures carbon nanotubes and carbon nanotube hybrids at their production facility in Norman, Oklahoma.  CHASM and Birla Carbon entered a Joint Development Agreement to develop a novel carbon black - carbon nanotube hybrid material that is currently being commercialized for use as a conductive additive for batteries.

CHASM has also recently developed NTeC-E, a multi-walled carbon nanotube that is competitive with products that are currently in widespread use for manufacturing EV batteries.  The NTeC-E product is demonstrating excellent performance characteristics in early testing and is under evaluation by multiple gigafactory customers.

CHASM is recognized as a world leader for the quality of their nanomaterials as well as in the commercialization of nanotechnology manufacturing.  The company recently commissioned a CNT reactor that has an estimated production capacity of 50 metric tons per year and is in advanced stages of engineering a commercial scale reactor with an estimated production capacity of 1500 metric tons per year.  CHASM’s facilities are ISO 9001-certified.”
